The album jacket for Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen propped up next to a record player, which is playing the album.

August 2025 marks an important milestone for one of my favorite albums of all time - Bruce Springsteen's legendary record Born to Run was released 50 years ago.

It's one of my all-time favorite albums, by one of my all-time favorite artists and earlier this year I wrote on I Have That On Vinyl why Born to Run means so much to me.

Five copies of Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen on vinyl.
How many copies of one record can one guy have? More, probably.

I have quite a few copies of this record - they are all unique in some way. One is a promotional version for radio stations, another has Jon Landau's name spelled wrong on the jacket - silly little differences like that. Whenever I am at a record store, I always check the bin for unique Springsteen records. I have a few promo version of some other records, and I'll generally pick up anything that catches my eye - even if I already have another version of the record.

To celebrate Born to Run's 50th anniversary, Springsteen released a high quality version of a track cut from Born to Run, which previously had only been available in an un-mixed, un-finished version on E-Street Radio on Sirius XM. Steve Van Zandt and Ron Aniello also provided some overdubs for the song.

If you've never listened to Born to Run, or it's been a while since you have listened to it, I strongly urge you to put it on and sink into the music.

Deftones, one of my favorite bands, have been on the scene for over 30 years, and they are still pulling in young crowds. Even though I've been a fan since Around the Fur came out I finally had the chance to see them live earlier this year for the first time.

One of Radiohead's saddest songs (which is saying something) is their fourth song to hit the Hot 100 list - 28 years after it came out.

A photo of a punk dressed in all leather and a green mohawk, and another photo of a black man in a suit with a thin tie and fedora. The text above the images says "a ska show is the only place where you could pull up in either of these outfits and its completely acceptable."

If you're of a certain age (kinda me) or watched WKRP in Cincinnati on Nick at Nite (definitely me) you'll get a kick out of this - someone put together a 3 hour "show" featuring Dr. Johnny Fever. There's also one for Venus Flytrap.

Rick Beato is a YouTuber that I sometimes watch until I get sick of him, which happens a lot, but he's right on this one. Corporations are always overreaching, and they are close to killing these types of editorial videos.

Ready for more Beatles Anthology content? Well, strap in.

I hate modern appliances that play a 5 minute song whenever your laundry or dishes are done washing. This is even worse.

Why are so many bands and artists pulling their music from Spotify? Apple has even rolled out a service to make switching and migrating your playlists easier.

Music cataloging site Discogs put out a fan poll to find the 25 best debut albums of all time. This list is missing several albums that should be on a list like this, including The Cars' self-titled debut.
