This will likely be the last newsletter that comes out before the midterm elections, and it’s important that Democrats hold their slim majority or if at all, possibly expand on it.

Republicans have shown time and time again that they want to strip rights away from anyone who isn’t a straight white Christian cis man, and we can’t stand for that.

Please check to make sure that you are registered to vote. Some states are doing very shady things to purge voters. Go to vote.org to check your voter eligibility.

If you want to see where your polling location is, OR more importantly, what is on your ballot with non-partisan explanations of ballot measures and surveys with politicians (if they choose to participate), the League of Women Voters and Vote 411 have amazing resources.

September 3rd was the tribute to Taylor Hawkins concert in London. It was an emotional couple of hours, especially the performance of My Hero by the Foo Fighters, with Taylor’s son Shane sitting in for his late father.

I can’t help but watch that performance and smile, and tear up.

I love the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World movie, and this tweet from Envy Adams herself was a treat.

Somehow found these BTS photos from the making of The Clash at Demonhead for Scott Pilgrim, We rehearsed like a real band with the guidance of Chris Murphy, Nigel Godrich and of course, Metric. And I got to play with my old friend Tennessee Thomas. We tore it up in Toronto.

I’ve often said that the best time for music in my life was roughly 1991-1997. That’s peak middle and high school years for me, and if you ask people, they would probably pick the same time in their lives for the best era of music. Pitchfork spent some time this month doing polls and making lists of the best of the best from the 90s.

This guy wonders what Everlong would sound like as an emo anthem:

Unless you’ve lived under a rock these past few days, you’ve probably seen the drama with Lizzo playing James Madison’s crystal flute. Sad racists are very butt hurt by it, and Forbes had the perfect headline for the story: Lizzo Plays A 200-Year-Old Crystal Flute, Accidentally Summons A Swarm of Trolls. If you haven’t seen the video of her playing it, you can watch it here.
